Issue 16 is very exciting for me because we are able to cover several (what I refer to as) “est” shipwrecks…deepest, richest, oldest, etc.   In this issue we feature the second part of a two part article on the richest shipwreck in the world, the Flor do Mar, written by none other than Bob Marx.  Bob located the wreck and excavated numerous artifacts from this 16th century shipwreck.

We feature the recent discovery of the oldest shipwreck ever found in the Great Lakes, the HMS Ontario.  This wreck still has some glass windows in place, the mast is still standing with the crow’s nest in its position.  It looks like it could sail tomorrow.

We also cover the recent finding of the oldest shipwreck in Alaskan waters, the Torrent.  It is a fascinating story of human struggle.

In addition, we feature the deepest archaeological recovery attempted on what is thought to be a pirate ship off New Orleans, affectionately called the Mardi Gras.

Most people remember the atomic tests conducted at Bikini Atoll, but few have seen it photographed like we have it in this issue.  In fact, this may be the last expedition to Bikini for a long time.

We also have the story of the ship Tuscania, a very sad tale indeed, and beautifully photographed.

And last, for those that have ever considered switching from open circuit scuba to closed circuit rebreathers, I finally did it.  In this issue I document my experience, and it was a good one.

So, don’t wait another minute, and join us as we uncover the past!
